The Game:

There are 15 players on each side - 8 forwards and 7 backs. The primary task of the backs is to advance the ball through running, passing, and kicking. The primary task of the forwards is to pursue the ball around the field and gain and maintain possession of the ball for the team. The objective of the game is to be the first to score with the ball and then puncture it so that your victory is insured. Actually, the real objective of the game is to score as many points by carrying, passing, kicking and grounding the ball in the try zone (in football, the term would be end zone).

Scoring:

Grounding the ball involves a person firmly touching the ball with both hands down in the try zone and results in a try (worth 5 points). After a try, conversion kick (placed or dropkick) is allowed for an additional point. Points may also be scored from a drop kick in general play (worth 3 points) and a penalty kick (worth 3 points).
